ANTHONY Blee has spent some 30 years in the catering and hospitality recruitment sector, but as he enters a fourth decade in the industry his career has really caught Fire!
The recruitment expert, from Sevenoaks, has been headhunted to run the new London office of Fire Hospitality, having managed staff at world-famous sporting events, including The Open Golf Championship, the British Grand Prix, The Olympics and sporting events and concerts at Twickenham.
And he has already lined up work for his new Fire teams at a number of well-known London venues, including Brentford’s Community Stadium, which has hosted top-flight Premiership football for the first time this season.
Anthony has joined our Hampshire-based recruitment specialists, which was only founded three years ago by a small team with decades of experience working in the catering, hotels and hospitality sectors.
During the pandemic the Fire Group reacted to the major problems experienced in the events and hospitality industry caused by the two national lockdowns, by venturing into the healthcare and food production sectors.
With the widespread reopening of pubs, restaurants and the return of big sporting and cultural events, Fire’s staff have been in demand – and we are looking for more to help our expansion plans.
Anthony said: “We have some big name clients in the sporting world – I have been putting teams together working at Brentford for London Irish, and down the road at Twickenham for Harlequins, in the Rugby Premiership.”
In the past Anthony has worked for Manpower, Extrastaff, Portfolio International and Michael Wisher Associates.
He has been appointed Fire Group’s operations director.
Fire Hospitality founder Rodney Burt said: “Anthony has all the experience and understanding of the hospitality, leisure and catering sector we were looking for to expand into London.
“We have hit the ground running in the capital and are confident Anthony can help us meet our goals in our great capital city.”
Anthony said: “I am really enjoying working for Fire. Our other offices have been placing teams at football grounds including Portsmouth, Southampton and Reading, and have worked at Newbury and Sandown races recently.
“Our team of bar staff, waiters and waitresses also worked at Goodwood’s Festival of Speed and famous Revival weekend, last year.
“We anticipate working with a similar clientele in and around London over the coming months.
“I am also really looking forward to the return of the big outdoor music events in 2022.
“We offer great opportunities for students and other young people living across London, and the South East.”
